How to Clean Tile Floors

tile-floor Tile floors are a beautiful addition to any home. They’re easy to clean and maintain, and they look great in almost any space. However, if you don’t keep up with the maintenance of your tile floor then dirt can accumulate on them. This article will show you how to clean your tile floors so that they stay looking their best!

Homemade cleaning solutions for floors.

25 drops of your favorite essential oil. Use equal parts oil and water to make a total solution of 1 gallon. Add the salt slowly while stirring until dissolved, then add the rest of the water and adjust quantities as necessary if you need more than a gallon. Apply with a natural bristle brush or mop, using strokes that run parallel to the floor grout lines so that you don’t push dirt into them! Wipe up with a damp cloth or rinse the mop in a bucket every 5 minutes or so (again, avoid pushing dirt further into grout).

The longer you wait between mopping sessions the better the result. If the grout in your shower is a different color than you’d like, you can add some natural bleach to get it clean.

Another way to make a cleaning solution to clean your tile floor is to mix baking soda and vinegar. First, pour enough vinegar to cover the floor in a thin layer. You can just dump it from a container or attach a mop head to your bucket and let the vinegar drip out slowly as you move it over the floor. Then, sweep up an equal amount of baking soda and sprinkle it evenly over the floor. Let this sit for 2 hours (or longer if something else is going on) then clean up by rinsing with water or vacuuming up.

This method will not work for cleaning grout lines because both ingredients are dissolved and either do not stay where they were sprinkled or get washed away completely when you rinse with water.

Cleaning tile floors with chemicals

floor-cleaning-solution There are many types of chemicals to clean your floors.  As with any chemical, you need to be very careful when using them. Open windows and make sure there is plenty of ventilation before you start cleaning your floors. Also, try not to mix several different types of chemicals together or near each other because it can cause a dangerous reaction.

The first type of chemical is called a “detergent”. This is the kind of cleaner that you use to wash your dishes. It contains chemicals and surfactants, which are really just soaps. To get all of the soap out of your floors after you’ve cleaned them, make sure you mop your floor with plain water or even throw a bucket on it. But if this doesn’t work then try mopping with ammonia water (one-part ammonia and 3 parts water).

The second type is an acid-based cleaning solution. You could find this at home by mixing vinegar and baking soda together into a paste(make sure to wear rubber gloves!) or there are other chemical solutions like these from stores. Acid-based cleaners are exceptional at removing tough stains and grease from floors, but make sure to rinse it well afterward. Otherwise, the acid will continue eating away at your floor!

Cleaner machines

cleaning-floor This final method is definitely one of the more expensive ways you can clean a floor: buying a cleaner machine (steam cleaners). Cleaner machines are extremely beneficial because they’re so easy to use and don’t require any harmful chemicals. Just add some distilled water into the tank of your steam cleaner, plug it in, and level out a path with a cleaning mop or cloth (never use paper towels!). Then let the machine run over your floors while staying clear of its hot steam! It will help get rid of most stains and dirt on its own. And not only that, but it may even keep your floors looking cleaner longer! As soon as you can’t see the dirt on your floor anymore, just simply mop it up again.

Steam cleaners aren’t too expensive and are now becoming widely available at hardware stores, major retail stores, or online. It’s definitely one of the easiest ways to clean your floors without worrying about harsh chemicals damaging your home or health.

Steam cleaner is a good investment since it will save much of your time in the future especially if you don’t stand cleaning your tile floors (like many people).

The above methods may require some trial and error for you to find what works best for you and your family. All of these options will keep your floors looking great, but it is important to determine what product/method fits best with the design aesthetic of your home so that they stay looking great for a long time!
